How To Find The Best Location For a Fast Food Shop: Guide For Entrepreneurs

Starting a fast food business is an exciting venture, but the success of your work largely depends on one of the vital factors: location. The right place can make your fast food shop thrive, while the wrong one can lead to struggles and disappointment.

In this blog, we will guide entrepreneurs on how to find the best location for a fast food shop. We will explore the importance of business geography, market research, competition analysis, costings, and resource calculation, as well as future growth potential.
Understanding the Importance of Business Geography

Business geography is finding the perfect spot for your fast food shop. It is not just about opening a restaurant; it is about opening it in the right place. Your location choice will affect your customer base, foot traffic, and overall sales. The first step is to understand your target audience. Who are they? What are their preferences, habits, and needs?

Perfect Location For Fast Food
Source: Freepik

If you target a younger crowd, locating near a university or college campus might be a great idea. If you aim to cater to families, a spot in a residential neighbourhood or near a park can be advantageous. The key is to align your fast food shop’s location with the people you want to serve.

Additionally, consider the accessibility of your location. It should be easy for customers to reach your fast food shop. Proximity to public transportation, ample parking, and a visible storefront are crucial factors. Convenience often drives consumer choices, so make sure your location facilitates easy access.

Market Research and Competition Analysis

Before committing to a location, thorough market research and competition analysis are essential. Market research involves studying the demographic and economic characteristics of the area. Find out the population, income levels, and spending habits of the people living nearby. This data can help you confirm whether your target audience aligns with the local population.

Competition analysis is equally vital. Identify existing fast food shops and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. Are there unfulfilled needs or opportunities in the market? You may discover a unique cuisine or concept that has yet to be explored. This information can help you find out your niche and stand out from the competition.

While analysing competition, also consider the proximity of competitors. Being near similar businesses can be advantageous, as it suggests a demand for fast food in the area. However, it is crucial to differentiate yourself from your competitors to attract customers. You might offer a special menu, better prices, or a more attractive ambience.

Costings and Resources Calculation as per the Business Geography

After conducting market research and competition analysis, it is time to crunch the numbers. The cost of setting up your fast food shop and running it in a particular location should align with your budget and financial projections. The availability and affordability of these resources in your chosen location can significantly impact your bottom line.

Evaluate the potential return on investment for the location. How much revenue can you realistically generate based on your research and projected sales? Balancing your costs and potential income is crucial for long-term success.

Analyse Future Growth Potential

Selecting the right location for your fast food shop is not just about the present but also the future. Consider the growth potential of the area. Are there upcoming developments, residential projects, or commercial hubs nearby? A growing neighbourhood can provide a steady stream of new customers in the long term.

Additionally, look at the local regulations and zoning laws. Will they restrict your future expansion or operation in any way? It is essential to have a clear understanding of the legal framework to avoid any unexpected hurdles.

Growth Analysis For Fast Food Shop

Moreover, take into account the adaptability of your business model. Can you easily adjust your menu or services to meet changing customer preferences? Flexibility is critical in the fast food industry, as trends and tastes can evolve quickly. A location that allows you to adapt to these changes will be more favourable.

The Inspiring Journey of Ajay’s Takeaway Food: From a Modest Start to 152 Outlets

In our modern, high-speed world, it’s a rarity to find success stories that endure across generations. The founders of Ajay’s Takeaway Food, Jaideep Solanki and Ajay Solanki, have achieved precisely that. Coming from a humble background in Pune, these two brothers have taken the culinary industry by storm. They rapidly expanded their empire from 13 outlets to a successful 152 outlets in just 2.5 years following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their success story is not just about numbers but about strength, family values, and unwavering determination.

The Early Days: From A 10×10 Room To Business Awareness

The Solanki family’s journey began in 1976 when their father moved from Navsari to Pune for employment. They lived in a small 10×10 room. Their father worked as a driver, but the insufficient income could not sustain the family. To make ends meet, their mother started making paper bags from cardboard. It was a subtle beginning, but it instilled in them the importance of hard work and resourcefulness.

Their father’s tireless work ethic left a lasting impression on the brothers. Despite limited formal education, their father could read and write English and spoke five languages. These early lessons laid the foundation for the Solanki brothers’ future success.

A Taste Of Entrepreneurship: Turning Tiffin Service Into Atmiya Foods

Jaideep and Ajay’s journey into the food industry was unconventional. The initial spark came when friends living in the same room started coming over to eat, and word of mouth spread; more friends came, and the idea of turning their home-based tiffin service into a business.

Ajay and Jaideep’s Friends

Their mother cooked, and the brothers served, all while having fun. It was the beginning of their journey into the food industry. After completing graduation, Ajay presented the idea of expanding this venture. Despite initial unwillingness from their father, the idea took root, and in 2001, they opened a small outdoor dining hall, ‘Atmiya Foods.’ It marked the first official step in their entrepreneurial journey.

Trial And Error: Learning Through Challenges

The Solanki brothers encountered several challenges along the way. In 2005, they secured a contract for a college canteen but had to close it shortly after. They also ventured into a partnership with a hotel that failed. In 2008, Ajay’s father passed away, adding to their difficulties. Despite these setbacks, they persisted. They managed a corporate canteen with low margins, operated a hotel named Sivanand, tried their hand at running a pool parlour, and even started a truck named Shiva’s Paratha. They were fearless in exploring various opportunities in their pursuit of success.

The Shift To Navsari: Setting The Stage For Expansion

A pivotal moment in their journey occurred when they relocated to Navsari in Gujarat. They sensed untapped opportunities and envisioned Navsari as a hub for their expansion. They launched their first outlet, ‘Atmiya,’ in Navsari, with research and preparation. The return of Jaideep from Muscat in 2012 further boosted their efforts. With the brothers working side by side, their business began to flourish. After some reflection, Ajay and Jaideep focused on what they were passionate about: making and selling food. They decided to take matters into their own hands by sourcing and producing everything, leading to a more streamlined and efficient operation.

Adapting And Growing: The COVID-19 Transformation

While many businesses suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ajay Food found growth opportunities. It proved to be a turning point. The pandemic granted them the time to strategize, plan, and execute their expansion. As a result, they managed to increase their outlets from 13 to an impressive 152, demonstrating their resilience and adaptability. For them, COVID-19 was not a curse but a blessing that allowed them to reimagine their business model.

A Team Effort: Supporting Local Communities

From a small family venture, Ajay’s Food has grown to employ over 600 people across 152 outlets in Gujarat. Their focus on quality, affordability, and community involvement remains unwavering. Centralised manufacturing and an efficient supply chain ensure consistent flavour and quality in all their outlets.

Lessons For Aspiring Entrepreneurs From Ajay’s Takeaway Food

The Solanki brothers’ journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and unwavering focus. They emphasise the importance of avoiding a Plan B and staying focused on primary business. They believe that having no alternative options increases the likelihood of success. Their story inspires all budding entrepreneurs, reminding us that, with perseverance and dedication, the sky is the limit.

5 Exceptional Traits You Must Have to Run a Franchise Business Successfully

The search for a franchise opportunity can stem from various reasons.

Individuals often look into a franchise business opportunity when they are in the middle of a job change and looking for an entrepreneurial stint, who does not want to retire yet, or even someone who does not like working under someone else. The reasons can be many, but one thing is for sure, owning a franchise means- a better work life, a better-earning chance, and a chance to be your own boss.

Starting any business is prone to risks. You must have a strong determination before venturing into any business that you will be able to stand the fall alone. A franchise-run business, whether a food franchise or any other lifestyle segment, does not have a risk of being alone. That is the power of owning a franchise business.

Are you trying to determine whether a franchise-run business is a good option in today’s market? Or are you sure about owning a franchise store but do not know whether you are fit for it or not? Don’t worry. We have a complete guide for individuals looking for a franchise opportunity in India who need a quality check on their skills.

Here are 5 significant traits you must have to run a successful franchise business.

1). Believe the Franchise as your Own Brand

If you want to succeed in a franchise business, you must accept the brand as your own. You must take pride in its products or services. Better brand ambassadors can adapt and integrate the franchisor’s culture & vision. It would help if you were as dedicated to growing the franchise brand as the owner would do. It will help you and your store in the long run.

2). Customer Experience Should be your Priority

An essential step for keeping the franchise store up and running is acquiring a customer base. Getting customers is easy but keeping them is hard. It would help if you had the skillset to serve your customers well. Customers tend to become supportive and regular when they are offered equal respect from the brand’s franchise store. Giving a top-notch customer experience can set you a step ahead in the franchise business.

3). Be your Own Boss

Being your boss does not mean you do whatever you deem fit and cross the boundaries the franchisor sets. You can always opt for small changes that fit your store only. It can be anything, like providing free home delivery, discounts, or running a campaign to attract more foot-ins.Of course, discuss it with your franchisor first to eliminate any breach in the contract.

4). Experience & Financial Knowledge is a Must

Experience is always golden for running a franchise store. Along with experience, you should also have a thorough knowledge of business management, capital management, accounting, sales management, etc. You can generate better profits if you know how to decode your financial statements and see where you are lacking or what expenses need to be cut short. It may be that you might not know about finance. You can onboard a partner or financial consultant knowledgeable about handling finances.

5). Don’t Be Scared of Failure

Starting a business is one thing but taking it to another level is entirely different. You must take a leap of faith and take daring risks to build momentum. There are always dangers associated with running a business.A daring franchise is ready to take a chance, especially with the backing of a reputable franchise system. Be bold in your pursuits and never be afraid of falling.

A franchise-run business is the best option for starting a business with low capital investment. Seizing the franchise opportunity that suits your needs is of utmost importance as well. The above-stated traits are best for understanding what you need to run a successful franchise. These attributes, along with the help and support of your franchisor, can put you on a track to success and growth. Get in Touch With Ajay To Know More About Amazing Franchise opportunities for a Takeaway Business.
